Sanco Industries SEO
Company Profile
Sanco Industries is the leading manufacturer of aquatic products in the United States. The company offers a wide variety of products to serve outdoor and farming needs, including pond treatment, turf health and rust protection. Founded in 1991, Sanco Industries’ headquarters and manufacturing facilities reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with warehouse distribution in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Houston, Texas.
The Situation
Sanco Industries had a great new Web site in terms of aesthetic, but it was not attracting the traffic that the company desired. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) needed to be implemented to make the site discoverable. Several problems were currently keeping the Sanco Industries Web site from receiving attention from search engines like Google:
- Sanco Industries site was using a global list of keywords and used the same description for each page.
- The title tags were not page specific.
- The site had three domains acting as individual sites with duplicate content
- Keywords were not implemented throughout the site
- The site had little to no visibility since it was new and only the home page was indexed within Google.
- Searching for the company on Google listed them near the bottom of the first result page.
The Solution
Aptera’s SEO Expert met with Sanco Industries and explained the benefits of doing SEO and its superiority in comparison with the company’s current pay per click campaign. After discussing some of the methods available, Aptera began working to increase Sanco Industries’ online visibility.
Competitive research was done for three Web-based competitor sites to answer the following questions:
- What keywords were they targeting?
- How many pages did the sites contain?
- How well were the sites optimized?
- How many links did they have?
- What was their result page position for the keywords being targeted?
- Keyword research was done for each page in order to establish it as a “landing page”; this is a necessity considering the evolved state of current search technology.
- Descriptive and keyword-rich Meta tags and title tags were written for every page.
- Page content was edited to include page specific words.
- Redirect codes were implemented to create domain canonicalization, a process that eliminates duplicate content issues caused by multiple domains.
- Importance tags were added to better target each page’s keywords. A global importance tag containing the most important keywords was also added to link back to the home page.
- Search engine access was denied to areas in the site that might represent duplicate content, such as the e-commerce online store.
- An XML sitemap of the entire site was created to help Google index all the pages.
